Network data

Network data is a vital resource for third parties as they plan energy projects. This page provides links for proponents, local government and new energy service providers.

This information is general in nature. It suits projects at an early stage of planning, such as:

  • information gathering
  • options definition
  • pre-feasibility planning.

Visit eConnect to submit a connection application. This process can commence when you have a project scope and need a connection agreement. Detailed network data for your specific project will be managed as part of this request.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can request network data via our network data form on myEnergy. We’ll need your contact details and the purpose of your request to ensure the correct data is provided.

Network Visualisation Portal

This map contains multiple layers of information. This includes the location of network assets and opportunities to support the network. These layers provide:

  • Constraints on sub-transmission lines, zone substations and high voltage feeders.
  • High voltage network maps. These show the sub-transmission network, zone substations and high voltage feeders.
  • Load trace data for zone substations.
  • Network boundaries relative to Local Government Areas and postcodes.

The portal can be used with the other network planning and consumption data sets on this page. Together, the support third parties to access our networks.

Piclo Flex: online flexibility marketplace

Network data is critical to develop of non-network solutions. We’ve partnered with Piclo Energy to develop a cloud-based flexibility marketplace. This is improving visibility of constraints on our network.

Distribution Annual Planning Report (DAPR)

The CitiPower and Powercor DAPR outlines changes proposed for the network. This includes the current year and five-year forward planning processes. It includes forecasts, system limitations, projects and investments.

Transmission Connection Planning Report (TCPR)

The TCPR is a joint report on transmission connection asset planning in Victoria. It is prepared by the five Victorian electricity Distributors – including CitiPower and Powercor.

Regulatory Investment Test for Distribution (RIT-D) and Transmission (RIT-T)

A RIT-D establishes consistent, clear and efficient planning processes for distribution network investments.

Distribution businesses must assess applicable network investments under the RIT-D.

Network voltage reports

Effective voltage management is critical to integrate distributed energy resources into our networks.

Network voltage reports are submitted quarterly to the Essential Services Commission. Reports published here summarise the data provided.

Register of completed embedded generation projects

This is a register of completed embedded generation projects. It improves access to technical information available about generators connected to our networks. Projects are named if their information is available through AEMOs generator registrations process. This is applicable to generator projects larger than 5MW.

Consumption data

This shows the amount of electricity consumed at postcode and Council levels. The information can support community-based energy projects and industry research. We are pleased to make it freely accessible.

The time series commences from 2016 and provides information on a monthly and yearly basis. It is updated every six months (in February and August each year).

Data is provided on three customer categories – residential, commercial and solar. Only aggregated information is provided to protect the privacy of our customers. Our privacy policy details the ways we protect the interests of individual customers.

*Please note: we review solar customer data as part of our quality assurance process. We will post updated information as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you can rely on all other information being accurate.

Zone substation data

We make historical load data available on a zone substation level. This raw data is provided in a CSV format.
