About us

Our networks power more than 1.1 million homes and businesses from Melbourne's CBD to the South Australian border.

It's our job to provide safe, reliable power and we are helping to shape Victoria's clean energy future.

Our poles, wires and other network assets are critical to Victoria’s clean energy transition. We connect rooftop solar, EV chargers and other devices. We also manage the increasingly dynamic flow of power to and from our customers.

Our teams operate from 15 depots, our Bendigo-based customer contact centre and our CBD headquarters.

More than just poles and wires

The energy world has changed. More than a million Victorians have solar panels on their roofs. A growing number are plugging in electric vehicles, installing home batteries, and selling energy back to the grid.

Our job has evolved from delivering electricity to managing the increasingly complex system. We do this in a way that helps everybody to benefit; regardless of whether they have solar panels or own their home.

About us

Our position in the energy supply chain

Electricity travels through four stages before it reaches your home or business. CitiPower and Powercor own and operate the distribution and metering stage which delivers power safely to your door.

Infographic showing the four stages of the electricity supply chain: generation, transmission, distribution and customer. It highlights CitiPower and Powercor's role in the distribution stage, delivering electricity to homes and businesses, and shows electricity can also flow from customers with solar back into the grid.

Along with providing you with a reliable and safe electricity supply our other key activities include:

  • Maintaining network safety, including vegetation and bushfire management
  • Extending and upgrading the network for future demand
  • Operating the network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Connecting new customers to the electricity network
  • Maintaining the public lighting system across our regions
  • Reading meters and providing data to energy retailers
  • Operating our local Contact Centre which is available 365 days a year, 24/7
